Commitment is a choice. It is a matter of the heart. We can be committed. We can choose to be committed just as Jesus chose to be committed to His Father (Philippians 2:5-8). Jesus obeyed God even when it meant He had to give His life. Jesus was totally committed! When we feel obligated to do something, it is because we have not fully released our hearts towards what we feel obliged to do. Frustration is manifested from obligation, as well as excuses. In fact, excuses are tools for the uncommitted. When you are committed, you submit your best every time, with- out taking a day off. Proverbs 16:3 (KJV) tells us to “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. ” If we commit our plans to God, He will establish them. He will make a firm foundation for our plans when we turn our plans over to God. Psalm 37:5 (KJV) tells us to “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. ” We must love God by way of commitment, not by obligation. Where obligation is, love is not there, because it takes away the presence of love. Obligation implies duty instead of honor.
Jesus was Committed
Commitment is a choice. It is a matter of the heart.
Yet, all that we do, we must do it unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23). When we are committed to the Lord, we serve Him faithfully, not half-heartedly. Where commitment is, faithfulness will follow. If you only feel obligated to the things of God, then you are not fit for the kingdom. We must commit our whole heart to the Lord and obey His commands. It is time to be committed to God’s will. Stop buying into excuses, because it implies a lack of commitment. Be committed, sow your love into that commitment with God, and watch the favor of God manifest in your life.
